Deckhand is set of tools to help the leisure sailor making his or her sailing trip easier.
Those of us sailing lakes, inland waterways or near the shore lines often have coverage of GPRS or 3G networks, but even without data network Deckhand offers some handy tools.
1.) Map display
Of course deck hand shows you where you are and allows you to keep the map centered on your position. Deckhand offers online maps and offline Open Sea Maps which shows nautical maps stored on the device. (check http://www.openseamap.org for availability and quality)
2.) Maritime Traffic display
Deckhand can show the real time maritime traffic based on AIS, KML (ShipPlotter)or IVEF data streams. We dont gather this data ourselves but support a number of know sources that do. (and you can add your own sources too!)
3.) Anchor watch
Dont you hate it that you are at anchor and constantly have to worry if your ship is still in the same place? Worry no longer! Deckhand will send you a mail, give you a call or sound the alarm once your ship is adrift.
4.) Tide tables
You can setup frequently visited ports and get their actual tide tables with a single button press. (Requires data connection)
5.) More to come
We have lots of suggestions to put in Deckhand, and we welcome your feedback to make Deckhand the most successful tool in the sailors pocket.
