WikiPlaces is the best way to access Wikimapia.org - a collaborative mapping project with the aim to describe every location in the world. It currently has over 25 million places annotated all over the world, many of which are also with detailed descriptions, photos and user comments. You will be amazed how much interesting and surprising you will learn about places you seemed to know!
